Altered book, gluebook, art journal, junk journal...whatever you want to call it. I simply call it a "journal" because I feel like that gives me permission to add whatever I want, however I want! Don't ask...just a weird psychological thing that works for me!
I have share all of my progress on my YouTube channel where I've made a Playlist specifically for this journal.

I just can't finish a cover in one fell swoop. I have to tinker and add to it throughout the life of the journal....Sometimes I don't do anything to the covers and other times, I change it five times before I finish using the journal. Covers are a big deal to me and I want it to be something I enjoy going back to.
If you don't want to watch the video, the main gist is taking brown packing paper and rolling it up and shaping it into things, painting that however you wish, and add a focal point - or don't add anything....decorate your cover however you wish. I give you full permission!
Here are some of the things I've added:

The first image shows a spread I consider "finished" and the second one is a background/not finished/will add to when inspired to do so.
My plan for this is to add
educational stuff (interesting forest/tree facts)
funny stuff (altered critters, random funny things)
art (from the community, my kids, myself, or famous art from a book or something)
mixed media nature experiments
actual nature
What are some things you've added to a forest theme piece of art?
I'd love to hear everyones ideas of what I should do! And please share other forest journal projects if you decide to start one, too! Or any other theme you really love! I'm always looking for new ideas and would love to be inspired by the things you make.
