This lovely lady measures 5x7 overall in a frame that I altered. I helped the structure of the frame by adding a small piece of wood to secure the back - this is nothing that is visible from the front. She comes from a sewing pattern from the 1960s.
I used repurposed vintage jewelry, wooden cut-outs, beads, and resin pieces I created to make this frame. It is painted black with some pink accents and a slight irridescence covering over the entire thing giving it the slight silver appearance.
I made wings for her using mixed media painty papers that I created on recycled paper. She is backed on vintage dictionary page which creates the perfect background to help her stand out.
These sewing patterns came from a family whose mother was a seamstress. This particular lady came from a junior pattern and the daughter of the seamstress told me that her mother created numerous dresses/nightgowns from this particular pattern that her and her sisters wore for many years.
These patterns were very well loved and heavily used. While I tried to separate the different people I cut out by condition, she may have slight imperfections. However, we all have slight imperfections but are all still beautiful.
She'd love a life on shelf or wall where she'll be admired for her simple beauty from styles popular in another time.
